Congratulations to Fawkner Leisure Centre member Paul Eskaf, who reached an incredible goal losing 93kg in the last year.
Paul comes from a fit and healthy family, but after working at McDonald’s for a number of years, choosing fast food for convenience over fresh healthy food and limited physical activity, his weight crept up to 202kg.
Paul admits he was unmotivated at that time, but realised he had to do something when he was diagnosed as pre-diabetic with severe sleep apnoea by his doctor.
After having gastric banding surgery in February 2012 and joining Fawkner Leisure
Centre in March 2012, he turned his life around and is now completely free of prediabetic symptoms and sleep apnoea.
His exercise regime involves a variety of cardio and weight training 5-6 times per
week, changing every four weeks as programmed by his trainer. In between his
training sessions he also added 50-100 laps of swimming.
Now Paul ranks fitness as his main hobby. He goes running with friends, plays
tennis and has lots more energy to do the things he wants to do. His confi dence
has increased 100% and he is thoroughly enjoying his new life.
Paul has launched a website that aims to inspire others as he shares his experience, suggestions and tips to help others stay motivated. There’s also some great recipes to try, we love his easy eggs and avocado breakfast recipe.
