In order to provide quality childcare, the following guidelines have been prepared for you:
We cater for children from 2 months of age to pre-school age.
Children are able to attend childcare for up to 15 hours per week as per our license specifications.
An enrolment form must be completed prior to your child/children’s first stay at our childcare centre as well as at the beginning of each year. This is available from reception or childcare. This provides us with the relevant information required to care for your child.
Due to regulations, there is a limit to the number of children who can attend childcare at any one time, therefore parents are required to book their children in prior to each session. Should you arrive late you will only be eligible to stay for the time in which you had originally booked, unless otherwise discussed with staff.
Cancellations without 24 hours notice are non-refundable, unless a medical certificate is produced and approval is recieved from the Care Coordinator.
Arrival and departure
You must ring the door bell to gain access to the childcare facility and wait for a staff member before you exit. This to ensure the safety of all children. All children must be signed in and out of childcare at all times by their parent or guardian. Please be punctual when picking up your child as a late fee will apply. If your child/children are to be picked up by another family member or friend, staff must be notified of the arrangements.
To maintain the best quality environment for all children, we ask that ill children be kept at home. The staff are permitted to refuse entry to any child showing signs of illness.
'No Jab, No Play' legistlation
Proposed 'No Jab, No Play' legislation came effect from 1 January 2016, subject to the passage of legislation.
All parents and guardians wanting to enrol their child into a childcare service from 1 January 2016 will be required to provide evidence that their child is:
- fully immunised for their age
- on a vaccination catch-up program,
- or unable to be fully immunised for medical reasons.
'Conscientious objection' will not be an exemption.
For more information, visit the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services 'No Jab, No Play' webpage.
Where emergency care is required, the parent/guardian will be notified immediately. If the parent is unable to be contacted the staff will follow procedures outlined on the enrolment form and will undertake any necessary action.
If you are late to pick up your child/ren, a late fee of one hour care cost will apply if you are up to 10 minutes late and one hour cost for every 10 minutes thereafter.
What to bring
- We encourage a healthy lifestyle, so please bring a piece of fruit or vegetable to share with the group. (Nuts, nut products, lollies and chips, etc are not permitted in the childcare centre)
- A hat, appropriate clothing and sun screen must be worn by all children while outside, regardless of weather conditions between the months of September and April
- Nappies (if applicable) and a change of clothes should be provided at all times
- Please feed and change your children prior to visiting childcare in order to assist staff in providing the highest quality of care for your child.
A Parent Handbook is available should you require further details on procedures and policies.
Parents are encouraged to be part of this important service through open discussion with staff members regarding any comments, suggestions or concerns.
Email Fawkner Leisure Centre if you have any questions.
