Northside Tai Chi

Northside Tai Chi

www.rrnh.org.au

Tai chi is a gentle and meditative exercise that began in China about 600 years ago. It was a form of martial art originally, but now it is practised worldwide as as an effective exercise for health. Northside Tai Chi runs classes specially designed for seniors at the Robinson Reserve Neighbourhood House in Coburg. Averil Lewis is a certified instructor of Dr Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Health Institute programs, including Tai Chi for Arthritis & Falls Prevention, and Tai Chi for Diabetes. The Tai Chi for Arthritis program is endorsed by Arthritis Foundations in Australia and worldwide. Studies have shown that tai chi relieves arthritic pain, lowers blood pressure, improves diabetes control, and reduces stress. The programs are easy to learn, remember and practice. They are also suitable for beginners, and for all levels of fitness, including people with chronic conditions. Classes run on Tuesdays at 10am during the term. Check the website for term dates and costs (pay ahead for the term and receive a discount of approx. 20%). Come and try a class, the first one is free! Classes on Tuesdays at 10am during school terms. Call the instructor, Averil, for further information on classes.
